City transportation industry to score big with Super Bowl

Avis has reopened a shuttered building and parking lot at the site of the former airport and stocked it with rental vehicles from throughout the Midwest to meet the anticipated demand of the 150,000 visitors expected for the game and its activities.

Larry Roberson of Affiliated Transportation said he would add another 25 vehicles to his already expanded fleet of 50 SUVs and shuttle buses if he could find the drivers and the wheels.

We already know there are companies out of Chicago coming in here, companies out of Detroit coming in here, said Roberson. Louisvilles coming in here, Lexington, Dayton, Columbus, Cincinnati. We already know these people are coming here.

Roberson said his drivers have an advantage in that they know downtown Indianapolis streets and where traffic will be routed in the vicinity of Lucas Oil Stadium.

Were telling them to turn off their GPS units because theyll no good that weekend, said Roberson.
