Eid shopping gaining momentum in capital
ISLAMABAD: The religious festival of Eidul Fitr is approaching near and a large number of women shoppers and youth is visiting the shopping malls and markets of twin cities to finalize their shopping.
Almost every shopping mall and market in twin cities is flooded with the Eid shoppers and the majority among these are women. A woman takes more interest in shopping as most of the times they do shopping for them as well as their children independently. They start their shopping normally two weeks before Eid, as they have to prepare dresses, buy jewelry and other accessories to colour their religious festival with traditional zeal.
While the last two or three days are spared for buying colourful bangles and henna to add charm and colour to the festival.
Most of the businesses especially of beauty parlours, boutiques, bangles, henna, tailoring and others boom ahead of Eid are related to Eid preparations of women while very few are for men. These days are not only a way of providing variety of shopping opportunity for buyers but also bring perfect income generating opportunity for stall holders, Murad Ali, a bangles stall holder at a local market said while talking to APP.
Any type of accessories relating to women and garments for children are the most profitable businesses after passing half month of Ramadan, he said.
While the bangles stallholders also give an opportunity to females mehndi artist couple of days before Eid to enhance their skills as well as boost their own sales, he said.
Many established and amateur dress and jewelry designers have started exhibiting their products at various galleries, houses and open-air lawns to attract maximum number of women, providing them with perfect fashion extravaganza.
The last weeks of Ramadan also witness huge rush at beauty salons for making the women ready to wear boutique dresses.
Exchanging gifts especially bangles and eid cards near Eid is also a tradition mostly followed by young girls but escalating prices of these items have limited the ways of sharing joyful moments.
I bought pink dress and now looking for matching shoes and then I have to buy matching jewelry, hair clips and bangles. I will again come with my family on Chaand Raat for henna, a young girl Saira said.
I have visited market to buy bangles and observed that bangles stalls are very few and the prices are not affordable, she said. app
